AB Seamen are responsible for deck and hull maintenance, lookout duties, and serving as Helmsman. They lead and train Ordinary Sailors, ensuring proficiency in safety and technical equipment. Key tasks include standby duties on the mooring deck, tender operation, gangway duties, and participating in fire fighting, first aid, and survival training. Compliance with safety, environmental policies, and waste management programs is required. For bridge assignments, knowledge of COLREG, hand steering, and Bridge Resource Management is essential. On deck, duties include maintaining hull and deck equipment, handling hazardous materials, and operating mooring and boat equipment, with basic knowledge of the ISPS Code.

Qualifications

  • 6 months to 1 year of experience as an Able Body Seaman (AB) on a cruise or passenger vessel preferred, or 1-2 years as an Ordinary Seaman (OS).
  • Completed apprenticeship as Able Seaman and internal training in driving tender boats.
  • STCW II/5 certification and Deck Watchkeeping certificate preferred.
  • Knowledge of COLREG, hand steering, and Bridge Resource Management principles for bridge assignments.
    Experience in deck maintenance, handling hazardous materials, mooring equipment, and rope handling.
  • Basic knowledge of the ISPS Code, ship's access regulations, and preservation works on the hull.
  • Good communication skills and flexibility in day-to-day activities.
