As an Art Specialist on a cruise ship, you support the fine arts program by managing logistics, display setup, and guest engagement. Working closely with the Gallery Director and Principal Auctioneer, you coordinate and curate exhibitions, ensure smooth operations of onboard galleries and auction events, and uphold art-handling safety standards. Additional duties include maintaining art inventory, delivering sales follow‑ups, and assisting with client invoices, shipping, and guest inquiries. Your role bridges behind‑the‑scenes coordination with direct guest interaction—from arranging displays to discussing artworks—all while thriving in a fast‑paced, multicultural, and high‑energy environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Art History, Fine Arts, Museum Studies, or a related field, or relevant hands-on experience.
  • Experience in retail art sales, gallery or museum operations, or luxury hospitality; cruise experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in safe art-handling practices, including installation, packaging, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs (≈23 kg).
  • Strong communication and guest-facing skills; ability to assist with art education and consultative selling.
  • Sales-driven mindset with a proactive approach to guest engagement and revenue contribution.
  • Detail-oriented with skills in inventory management, invoicing, and shipping coordination.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment aboard ship for 4–6 month contracts.
