The Assistant Electrician supports the Electro-Technical Department by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical and electronic systems across both hotel and engine areas. Responsibilities include repairing electrical systems, maintaining low-voltage distribution networks, servicing hotel equipment, inspecting lighting, and supporting elevator and deck machinery maintenance. Tasks also involve battery checks for lifeboats and forklifts, minor appliance repairs, and upkeep of systems such as whirlpools, galleys, and laundries. The role requires adherence to safety and environmental protocols, familiarity with emergency plans and company procedures, and accurate reporting of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and stock levels. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  • Professional electrical qualification and certified Electrician credentials required.
  • IMO/STCW III/7 (ETR) Certificate of Competency (CoC), with ability to obtain Italian Endorsement.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as an Electrician on large cruise vessels; 2 years as GP Assistant Electrician also considered.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and fault finding for various electrical systems, including galley equipment, lighting circuits, and general installations.
  • Solid understanding of low-voltage (LV) electrical distribution systems and shipboard electrical maintenance.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.
