The Assistant Waiter/Waitress supports the assigned Restaurant Waiter in delivering exceptional food and beverage service in accordance with company standards and public health regulations. Responsibilities include assisting with mise-en-place preparation, delivering food from the galley, serving guests, clearing tables, and maintaining a clean, organized station. The role requires full knowledge of the menu and wine list, the ability to communicate guest preferences or issues, and close coordination with both the service and galley teams. The Assistant Waiter also participates in special events, inventory management, and embarkation duties. Strong service orientation, hygiene awareness, teamwork, and flexibility are essential for success.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Waiter or similar role in a premium hospitality or restaurant setting.
- Solid knowledge of food, beverages, and common allergies.
- Ability to work independently; shipboard experience is a plus.
- Minimum age 21; physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items, standing, kneeling, and bending for long periods.
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills for interaction with guests and team.
- Flexible, stress-resistant, and a strong team player with a high work ethic.
- Professional appearance, guest-focused attitude, and excellent hygiene and sanitation standards.
