The Assistant Baker supports the Baker and Head Baker in producing high-quality bakery goods, ensuring daily operations meet company standards and public health regulations. Responsibilities include preparing a variety of breads, pastries, and baked items for guests and crew, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, minimizing food waste, and managing equipment properly. The role requires professional baking knowledge, adherence to recipes and safety protocols, accurate recordkeeping, and cooperation with the provisions team. Active participation in daily briefings, training, and safety drills is expected. The Assistant Baker must be flexible, well-groomed, guest-focused, and able to work under pressure while upholding company service standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as Assistant Baker or similar role in a premium hospitality environment; or professional culinary education with 6 months of experience.
  • Basic professional baking skills required.
  • Ability to safely operate baking equipment.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills for interpreting menus and recipes.
  • Flexible, resilient, team-oriented, and committed with a strong work ethic.
  • Guest-focused with a positive attitude, professional appearance, and high hygiene standards.
  • Eagerness to learn and comply with all Public Health and Sanitation Policies.
  • Minimum age: 21; must lift 50+ lbs (30 kg) daily and work 11 hours/day, 7 days/week.
  • Previous cruise ship experience is a plus.
