The Bar Waiter is responsible for providing efficient, courteous, and sales-oriented beverage service to guests across assigned bars, lounges, and outdoor areas, typically managing service for 25–30 guests. Duties include serving drinks, assisting with cocktail preparation, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar in line with company SOPs and public health policies. The role involves stock control, inventory participation, and adherence to set budgets. The Bar Waiter practices up-selling techniques, ensures accurate billing, verifies guest age before serving alcohol, and maintains professional grooming and hygiene standards. Flexibility, teamwork, and knowledge of onboard services and safety protocols are essential.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years in a Bar Waiter or similar role within high-volume, premium hospitality; cruise ship experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and international/tropical cocktails is essential.
- Proficient in global alcohol brands and cocktail preparation
- Excellent English communication skills
- Familiar with Public Health standards (USPH, HACCP)
- Physically fit; able to stand, bend, kneel, and carry trays (up to 30 lbs) for long hours
