The Ship’s Carpenter is responsible for executing all carpentry maintenance and repairs in guest and crew areas, ensuring work meets company standards. Duties include repairing woodwork and furniture, prioritizing and distributing job orders, and maintaining door locks and key systems as needed by Security. The Carpenter must manage inventory of materials and tools, ensure proper storage with fire safety precautions, and maintain the tidiness of the workshop. Responsibilities also include assisting with freshwater bunkering, tank soundings, and personnel record-keeping. The role involves training co-workers on safe equipment use and providing guidance through professional conduct.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience as a Carpenter on a large cruise vessel preferred.
- Experience in furniture carpentry and general repair work required.
- Knowledge of wood and laminate repair techniques.
- Familiarity with carpentry tools such as drills and screwdrivers.
- Prior carpentry experience in any setting considered.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to varied daily tasks.
- Basic computer literacy.
