Environmental Officer

The Environmental Officer (EO) plays a vital role in ensuring environmental compliance aboard the vessel. Acting independently from operational duties, the EO reports directly to the Captain and secondarily to the Compliance Officer–Environmental ashore. Responsibilities include monitoring shipboard operations to ensure adherence to international environmental laws and company policies, overseeing waste management, and implementing pollution prevention measures. The EO conducts regular inspections, maintains detailed records, and provides training to crew members on environmental protocols. They also participate in emergency response, support sustainability initiatives, and help develop and enforce environmental procedures to reduce the ship's ecological impact.
