As a Fitness Instructor aboard a cruise ship, you will design and lead group fitness classes—such as yoga, Pilates, spinning, Zumba, HIIT, and resistance training—and offer personalized training sessions. Your role spans performance diagnostics, metabolic assessments, and individualized fitness programming. You will also manage the sauna area, lead active excursions, host wellness seminars on nutrition and cardiovascular health, and promote spa services and fitness products. Working independently within a multicultural spa team, you’ll maintain high hygiene and safety standards, handle scheduling and guest consultations using computerized systems, and contribute to a sales-driven wellness environment that elevates guest experience.
Qualifications
- Recognized Level 3 certification in Personal and Group Training, plus a resistance weights qualification such as BAWLA, NABBA, or international equivalent.
- Minimum 3 months of formal personal training experience (paid or unpaid), and at least 1 year teaching group fitness or working in similar roles.
- Additional certifications in yoga, Pilates, indoor cycling, Tai Chi, HIIT, or Zumba are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of core fitness curriculum including warm-up and cool-down, resistance and cardiovascular training, core stability, goal setting, exercise counseling, anatomy and physiology, hygiene, health and safety, and client care ethics.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills; fluency in English required, additional languages are a plus.
- Commercial awareness and ability to promote and cross-sell fitness sessions, spa services, and wellness products.
- Ability to perform diagnostics, assess heart rates, and develop personalized training programs.
- Physically fit for long hours, fitness classes, excursions, and sauna area supervision.
