A Pool Deck Attendant on a cruise ship is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in the pool and deck areas. Duties include setting up and arranging deck chairs, distributing towels, and ensuring that all poolside furniture and equipment are in good condition. The attendant monitors the area for safety, enforces pool rules, and promptly reports hazards. Providing excellent guest service is essential, including assisting with requests, answering questions, and supporting deck events and activities. Additional responsibilities involve maintaining sanitation standards, managing waste disposal, and collaborating with team members to deliver a consistently positive guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous customer-facing experience, ideally in hospitality or on a cruise ship.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures, especially for pool maintenance and chemical handling.
  • Physically fit, with the ability to lift, carry, and remain on feet for long periods.
  • Team player with flexibility to adapt to changing situations and work under pressure.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a similar role within a 3 or 4-star operation is desirable.
  • International experience and a positive, service-oriented attitude are strong assets.
