The Sanitation Officer ensures the highest public health and hygiene standards across all food preparation, storage, and waste handling areas onboard. This role includes leading daily inspections, overseeing compliance with USPH and international regulations, and maintaining detailed sanitation records (e.g., HACCP, temperature logs). Responsibilities include training crew on hygiene protocols, managing pest control, supervising garbage segregation and disposal, and conducting audits of food safety practices. The Sanitation Officer also chairs sanitation meetings, ensures cleanliness in crew and guest areas, supports environmental initiatives, and coordinates with all departments to drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

  • Two plus years’ experience in a Food Safety and Sanitation or Environmental Health related Managerial position • USPH Vessel Sanitation Certificate required.
  • Food and Beverage operational experience preferred.
  • Experience in disease outbreak management and response.
  • Experience in Potable water and Swimming Pool sanitation preferred.
  • Ship experience preferred.
  • College degree in Public Health related field.
  • Proficient in Windows applications and email.
  • Experience in facilitating training and instruction sessions for small and large groups.
