The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the ship, passengers, crew, and property by enforcing all shipboard regulations and international security standards. Duties include screening all persons and belongings through X-ray machines and metal detectors at gangways, conducting identity checks and physical searches, and controlling access to the ship. The role also involves routine patrols of guest and crew areas, monitoring CCTV systems, securing incident scenes, assisting in investigations, and responding to emergencies such as alarms or physical threats. Additional tasks include maintaining gangway equipment, escorting discharged crew, and assisting guests and crew when needed.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in law enforcement, military police, or industrial/private security.
- University degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational training in security or 5+ years of relevant experience considered.
- X-ray operator qualification and experience with metal detection equipment preferred.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written) and basic computer literacy.
- Training in self-defense and physical restraint techniques beneficial.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good physical fitness required.
- Basic skills in investigation, reporting, and incident response are advantageous.
