The Ship Repairman is responsible for the corrective maintenance and safe operation of a wide range of onboard equipment, particularly within the hotel and technical departments. Duties include repairing and maintaining guest and crew laundry equipment, galley and pantry machinery, doors, handrails, stainless steel fittings, pulper and drainage systems, hot/cold/gray/black water lines, and waste management systems (dry/wet garbage, incinerators). The role also involves maintaining swimming pools, Jacuzzis, shell doors, lifeboats, tenders, davits, and deck machinery. The Repairman must ensure cleanliness and order in work areas, tools, and equipment, and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Second or First Engineer.
Qualifications
- Minimum six months experience on large cruise vessels with medium speed diesel engines preferred.
- Other types of vessel with appropriate increase in time considered.
- Experience in all types of fabrication a high priority.
- Must be proficient in the following skills: Arc & Gas Welding, Fabrication – including sheet metal and pipe work, Lathe Machining and Milling.
- General workshop fitting.
- Must have a good command of spoken English.
- Must be flexible and hard working.
