The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service in accordance with company standards, hygiene policies, and guest expectations. They manage and operate an assigned service station, ensuring mise-en-place, cleanliness, and full compliance with public health regulations. Duties include welcoming guests, taking and serving orders, managing reservations, up-selling beverages, and maintaining detailed knowledge of menus, wine lists, and guest preferences. The role also involves supervising assistant waiters, participating in events and embarkation duties, performing stock control, and ensuring seamless coordination with the galley. A high level of flexibility, teamwork, and a guest-focused attitude are essential.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Waiter or in a similar role within a premium hospitality or high-volume restaurant environment.
- Recent experience (within the last 2 years) in food & beverage service; shipboard experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food, beverages, cocktails, international wines, and allergy awareness.
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills; confident in speaking to groups and making menu recommendations.
- Physically fit; able to carry banquet trays, lift heavy items, and work on feet for long periods.
- Guest-focused, team-oriented, with a positive attitude, professional appearance, and adherence to hygiene and public health standards.
