Utility Provisions
The Utility Provisions (Store Utility) crew member supports the efficient and hygienic operation of the ship’s provision department by ensuring proper storage, cleanliness, and delivery of supplies. Responsibilities include assisting with scheduled deliveries, cleaning provision areas in compliance with food safety standards, and storing goods according to best seamanship practices. The role involves issuing items to departments, applying FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory methods, and helping maintain accurate stock records. Store Utilities must operate equipment safely, report any technical issues, and follow hygiene protocols aligned with USPH standards. They work closely with supervisors and other departments to meet supply needs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as warehouse worker or storekeeper.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks like bending, lifting, and working in cold storage.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for interacting with crew and reporting issues.
- Fluency in English for clear and safe communication.
